Seasons Medical Spa Helps Local Resident Prepare for Mrs. America Pageant
Natalene Sipes, Mrs. Missouri 2004
by Laura Whaley
At a beauty pageant in Chillicothe in March, local Springfield resident Natalene Sipes seemed absolutely perfect to the judges who crowned her as the 2004 Mrs. Missouri. But Sipes knew of the flaw that she had to fix immediately—her imperfect skin. Since she was a teenager, Sipes would not leave her house without foundation, even when she was going to the gym to exercise. As a licensed cosmetologist for over 14 years, she learned precisely how to apply her makeup so that the tiny red bumps on her face would not show. But as she thought of being just feet away from the celebrity judges in Palm Springs, California, she decided that it was time to take action. Not knowing what to do about her problem but assuming that there must be someone in Springfield that could help, Sipes opened the phone book and called the first business that seemed to offer what she needed: Seasons Medical Spa.
At the time, Sipes had never had an appointment with a dermatologist. In fact, she had been informed by a doctor that her imperfect skin was probably caused by a problem with her thyroid. She had been taking prescribed thyroid medication for a year with virtually no improvement before she came to see Dr. N. Eugene Morrow, Medical Director at Seasons Medical Spa. “Dr. Morrow took one look at my skin and said, ‘The problem with your skin is not your thyroid. You have adult acne.’ I was shocked!” Sipes did not even know that adults could have acne, but decided to try the medication that Dr. Morrow prescribed. She was delighted when the red bumps were gone in less than three weeks.
Happy with her newly clear skin, Sipes was interested to learn about other ways that Seasons could help her prepare for the upcoming Mrs. America pageant. However, she was worried about how she could pay for the services. Sipes has no source of income as she stays at home to raise her four children and her husband is often unable to work due to his ongoing battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The unexpected costs associated with competing in the pageant had depleted her family’s already limited finances. Luckily, Dr. Morrow and his wife Cindy, Seasons Spa Director, were sympathetic to her troubles and decided to donate their services to help Sipes realize her pageant dreams.
After a thorough consultation with Cindy Morrow, Sipes began a comprehensive program of skincare, body and medical treatments, including Botox® Cosmetic injections to relax the laugh lines around her eyes, IPL Fotofacial Photorejuvenation, and microdermabrasion to fade sun damage and reduce the appearance of acne scarring, deep pore cleansing facials, and permanent laser hair reduction.
Sipes is elated with the final results and says, “This is the first time in my life that I have felt that I was able to leave my house without foundation. In fact, I haven’t worn it in weeks! I would recommend Seasons Medical Spa to anyone. If I had known the results that have been achieved, I would have paid out-of-pocket for these services years ago—at almost any cost.” Sipes was particularly impressed with the management and staff at Seasons Medical Spa. “They were so concerned about me as a person and wanted me to be happy while I was there being treated as well as with the results,” she said.
