What is Microdermabrasion?

Seasons Medical Spa is now offering Crystal Microdermabrasion, one of this year’s most popular skincare treatments. From smoothing fine lines and wrinkles to reducing the appearance of brown spots, acne, scars, pigment irregularities and pore size, Crystal Microdermabrasion can be used to improve a variety of facial and bodily skin imperfections.

Crystal Microdermabrasion is a safe, non-invasive medical procedure that dramatically removes dead skin cells. It can be performed on several areas of the body that are prone to signs of aging, spotting and scarring, such as the face, neck, décolleté and hands. Based on an individual’s specific condition and skin type, an aesthetician will recommend a single session or a series of treatments.

During each treatment, an aesthetician uses a special tool that shoots a precise stream of super-fine crystals to polish away the surface layer of the skin. This upper layer of skin, called the stratum corneum, is a set of dead skin cells that covers a second layer of cells that are still maturing. As the stratum corneum is exfoliated, the body rushes to replace the dead skin cells with the new and healthy cells that are underneath. The tool is then used as a vacuum to remove the dead skin as well as impurities found in the pores. Afterwards, nourishing lotions are applied to replenish the skin’s moisture. Crystal Microdermabrasion reveals healthy skin that has a smoother, softer and more glowing appearance!

Who benefits from a Chemical Peel?

Simply “Peel Away” Facial Imperfections

Enhance your appearance and self-confidence by improving and smoothing the texture of your facial skin with a chemical peel treatment at Seasons Medical Spa.  A chemical peel is a gentle treatment that can be used to improve a variety of facial flaws such as blemishes, acne, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin pigmentation, sun damage and acne scarring. 

A chemical peel treatment safely and gently removes the upper layer of skin, leaving the face with an improved and glowing appearance.  Some mild flaking may occur as the top layer of skin sloughs off after the completion of the treatment.

The amount of “peeling” depends on the individual peel that is used and the results desired by the client.  Seasons medical aestheticians complete a skin analysis before they recommend any peel.  In some cases, it is advisable to use special homecare products before starting the peel.  Because these peels work gradually, they are frequently combined in a package with other treatments like facials, microdermabrasion or even the IPL Photorejuvenation.

Some of Seasons' favorite peels are very mild. Blueberry Smoothie is an excellent acne treatment.  It also helps fade brownspots. The gentle Cranberry Enzyme Mask can be added to your facial and can brighten and soften the skin for those with sensitive skin or rosacea.

The deeper peels, like the Blueberry Jessner, have more dramatic benefits but may take a few days to a week to complete the peeling process.  The upper layer of the skin looks like you’ve been in the sun. Then it gradually turns brown and peels away.  Because these peels work gradually, they are often combined with other treatments such as microdermabrasion or therapeutic facials to help the process.  This is an exceptional acne peel and is also excellent for more mature, changing skin.  This seven-day peel uses blueberry extract, which has very potent anti-aging and anti-oxidant properties.

The Vitality Anti-Aging Peel is the perfect "lunch hour peel".  It improves texture and skin tone, lessens fine lines, aids in masking pigmentation problems and reduces the appearance of enlarged pores.  The Vitality Peel is characterized by a gentle fine peeling that reveals more a more youthful complexion.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

It’s something many women face, but don’t like to talk about: unwanted facial and body hair.  Fortunately, a long term solution for unwanted hair is available now.  Whether planning for the holidays, a wedding, a vacation, or just desiring a sleeker, hair-free appearance, now is the perfect time to consider laser hair removal.  Just imagine not having to tweeze, wax, shave, or endure long painful hours of electrolysis again.

According to N. Eugene Morrow, M.D., Seasons Medical Spa, the gold standard in hair removal is the LightSheer diode laser system. “The beauty of this laser technology,” says Dr. Morrow, a Springfield Dermatologist, “is that we can effectively treat unwanted hair on all skin types, including dark-skinned individuals.”

Dr. Morrow explains that the LightSheer laser gently cools the surface of the skin while pulses of light are selectively absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles.  The absorbed light heats the hair structures, which damages the existing hair and destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle – all without damaging the surrounding normal tissue. 

Laser hair removal can be performed in minutes in the comfort of Seasons Medical Spa, under the direction of a Board Certified Dermatologist.  Dozens of hairs are eliminated with each pulse of light.  A significant reduction in the number and thickness of hair is usually apparent after the first treatment.   From four to six treatments are usually necessary for permanent hair reduction.

Because of they lack of pigment, blonde or gray hairs cannot be effectively treated with lasers.  Waxing, offered by Seasons’ licensed professional aestheticians, can temporarily remove hair of any color.
